1. Advanced Localization Techniques in Legal Interpreting (2 hours, CIMCE pending)
Includes case studies where localization techniques were omitted by the interpreter leading to an inaccurate transfer of the original message.
2. Advanced Criminal Terminology (2 hours, CIMCE pending)
This class focuses on typical legal sentences that are highly dependent on context of the original message. Localization of legal, both civil and criminal, terminology is also included.
3. Working as a Linguist for the Government – DEA/ICE/CUSTOMS (2 hours, CIMCE pending)
Code words, summaries and transcripts of wiretaps. Audio from actual wiretaps are used to illustrate the techniques required for summaries and transcripts.

This workshop will be offered as a 6 unit class. Per the Judicial Council requirements, CIMCE credit will be awarded only after completion of the entire educational activity. Partial attendance does not qualify for CIMCE credit. Online registration closes at 6 pm on Friday, November 3.
