On October 16, 2026, the Judicial Council approved agenda item 26-145 (Changes to Certification Requirements), despite strong opposition from interpreters. Candidates who pass certain portions of the certification exam, but not others, will be allowed to retake the failed portion within two years but will not be retested on the portions they passed before.
