Because people can represent themselves in Small Claims, court interpreters can face challenging situations that they don't normally encounter in cases where parties are represented by attorneys. Some examples include a party unfamiliar with the court process asking the interpreter for advice or guidance. This class will focus on those challenges and also include specific terminology related to Small Claims from start to finish, including the appeals process and collection of judgment. A colleague will also share her recent Small Claims experience after she wasn’t paid by an agency.
